One in Two House
design proposal, 2011
cooperated:
One house "catches" (an)other...
The plan is defined by the use of foundations of a summer house, which until recently stood in its place (now has been demolished). Its shape is informed by the surrounding summer "huts" or cottages, and the client's requirement for a spacious and airy main living space. The glazed front face of the building overlooks the pond located at the southern edge of the land, and an adjoining forest. The two intersecting volumes of the house are a a result of designing a house which would begin as a summer refuge, and then be (in the 2nd phase of the project) upgraded to a regular family home.
